This Months Study

Wrapped for the Altar
Christmas is often told as a gentle story, softened by familiarity and warmed by repetition. Angels sing, shepherds marvel, and a child lies quietly in a manger. Yet Scripture gives us this scene not to lull us, but to awaken us. The birth of Christ is announced with glory, but explained with a sign. A baby, wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying where animals feed. From the fields of Bethlehem to the cross outside Jerusalem, the story of Christ begins exactly where it must, with a Lamb prepared for the altar.
Previous Months

Moses stood before a bush that burned but was not consumed. Sand clung to his feet as he obeyed the voice that told him to remove his shoes, for the ground was holy ground. In that desert silence, Moses asked the question every heart eventually asks: Who are You?

Breathing Above the Deep
You’re standing at the rail of a ship before sunrise. The sea is slate-grey, breathing in long slow swells. Then it happens—a column of mist erupts, a smooth back arcs, and a fluke lifts like a banner and slides beneath the surface. A whale has surfaced. It is perfectly at home in the ocean. It feeds there, travels there, sings there. But it cannot live there...

A child once asked a question that has echoed through centuries of Christian thought: “If God made everything that exists, and evil exists.. did God create evil?” The question is simple, yet it reaches into some of the deepest waters of theology. Yet Scripture also acknowledges the terrible reality of evil within God’s world. How do we hold these truths together without bending either Scripture or reason?

Our Christ-centered services offer a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all. Pastor Vic's inspiring sermons resonate with the timeless truths of the Bible, connecting them to our daily lives in meaningful ways. His leadership has been instrumental in fostering a close-knit community throughout the Sparta area.

Please note that our services are held once a month, typically every 4th Sunday. We encourage you to check our "Sunday Worship" section for specific dates, as our meeting schedule may vary. While we do not meet weekly, each gathering is a cherished time filled with heartfelt worship, meaningful fellowship, and spiritual nourishment that carries us through the weeks ahead.

We cordially invite you to join us at our next service. Whether you are a lifelong believer, new to the faith, or simply seeking a place of peace and reflection, you will find a warm welcome here. Come and experience the enduring legacy of a church that has stood the test of time, and be a part of our journey as we continue to grow in faith and love.
